Yatsenyuk Firmly Rejects Ideas for a New Type of NATO
Arseniy Yatsenyuk, head of the Kyiv Security Forum and former Prime Minister of Ukraine, has expressed his strong opposition to discussions regarding the potential reformulation of NATO or the creation of new military alliances.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the head of the Kyiv Security Forum and former Prime Minister of Ukraine from 2014 to 2016, has firmly stated his position against discussions surrounding the possible reformulation of NATO or the creation of new military alliances. He emphasized that such ideas are impractical, as Ukraine needs to focus on intensifying pressure on the aggressor rather than altering existing structures.
During a discussion titled 'The Generation of the Unbreakable: Reflections from General Petraeus – A View from Washington,' organized by the Kyiv Security Forum, Yatsenyuk noted that various discussions are ongoing, proposing ideas for the establishment of a 'new type of NATO' or the formation of new alliances. 'I strongly oppose such ideas. We still have very strong foundations for victory in this war. Our Western allies must realize – there is no other way but to exert fierce pressure on Putin,' Yatsenyuk stated, highlighting the importance of unity and determination in the fight against the aggressor.
Yatsenyuk also drew attention to the fact that the aggressor, namely Russian President Vladimir Putin, continues his attacks on Ukraine and harbors criminal intentions towards other territories and alliances. He pointed out that 'war criminal Putin is killing Ukrainians,' which serves as a clear response to all recent attempts at peace negotiations. Yatsenyuk urged the rejection of illusions that Putin seeks peace, emphasizing that he is a bloodthirsty aggressor aiming to destroy and seize Ukraine, dismantle NATO, and undermine the Western world.
'We, Ukrainians, are on the front lines of a righteous struggle for civilization,' Yatsenyuk concluded, stressing the importance of support from the international community in this fight. His words became a call to action not only for Ukraine but for all countries that seek to protect their values and freedom from aggression.
In the face of ongoing threats from Russia, Yatsenyuk's position reflects the general concern of Ukrainian society and political leaders regarding security in the region. It is crucial for international partners to not only recognize the seriousness of the situation but also to actively support Ukraine in its struggle for independence and territorial integrity.
