Trailer and Poster Released for the Comedy Fantasy 'Khreshchatyk 48/2'
A new Ukrainian film titled 'Khreshchatyk 48/2' is set to hit theaters, promising to immerse audiences in a fantastical world hidden behind the familiar facades of modern Kyiv.
According to a statement from the State Agency of Ukraine for Cinema, the new Ukrainian film 'Khreshchatyk 48/2' is making its way to the big screen. This film promises to plunge viewers into an extraordinary world that lies behind the familiar façades of contemporary Kyiv, where magic, danger, and ancient secrets intertwine with the urban rhythm. The film invites audiences on an unforgettable adventure that begins right on Khreshchatyk Street.
The plot of the film revolves around two 11-year-old children, Yurko and Mia, portrayed by Ivan Novynskyi and Kira Sayapina. They accidentally find themselves in an otherworldly version of Kyiv that has existed since 482 AD, where they must not only meet mythological neighbors but also confront an ancient goddess of death. This dangerous encounter will prove to be a true test for the children, as they will need to stand up against this powerful force to ensure that the light does not fade away forever.
The general and creative producer of the film is Oleksii Komarovskyi, who shared his thoughts on the project. 'I know how much you have been waiting for a Ukrainian children's film this spring. We are releasing it during the last week of school as a gift for children, parents, and teachers before the holidays. This Ukrainian fantasy world lives in the very heart of a modern metropolis, where folklore heroes come to life and where everyone wants to go,' he stated.
'Khreshchatyk 48/2' will be available for viewing in cinemas starting May 28. The film is produced by Komarovskyi Films with the support of the State Cinema Agency, while B&H Film Distribution and UPHub serve as distributors.
This project is part of a larger initiative, as reported by Ukrinform, with the state budget for 2026 allocating ₴4 billion for the implementation of the '1000 Hours of Ukrainian Content' program (also known as 'Thousand Spring'). Of this amount, about half is planned to be directed towards the production of feature films and series, highlighting the importance of supporting Ukrainian cinema.
