The Enemy is in a Hurry: Military Expert Discusses Russian Offensive and Frontline Situation

In a recent broadcast on Ukrainian Radio, military expert and reserve colonel of the Ukrainian Navy, Vladyslav Selezniov, provided insights into the current state of the Russian offensive and the situation on the front lines.

Vladyslav Selezniov, a military expert and reserve colonel of the Ukrainian Navy, recently spoke on Ukrainian Radio about the ongoing situation on the front lines in Ukraine. He highlighted that the primary achievements of Russian forces are concentrated around the areas of Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, as well as near Hulyaipole. In contrast, other sections of the front have shown signs of stabilization. Selezniov emphasized that the enemy appears to be in a hurry, noting that the third decade of April is particularly favorable for offensive operations due to the emergence of 'greenery' and the stabilization of soil conditions following recent rains. However, he pointed out that this rush is largely due to the successes of the Ukrainian army.

According to Selezniov, Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) have successfully destroyed over 6,000 enemy vehicles in March alone. He explained, 'We have found ways to dismantle the enemy's logistical system, operating at distances of 20-50-80-100 kilometers from the frontline. There is hope that as time goes on, the enemy will have fewer resources and capabilities for conducting active and effective offensive actions.'

Recently, Russian officials have begun discussing the possibility of ending the war in exchange for the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the Donetsk region within two months. Selezniov remarked on the logic behind the occupiers' stance, stating, 'If things were going well for them, they would silently demonstrate the reality of their military ambitions and victories through the use of Russian weaponry. However, when the situation on the battlefield is not favorable, they revert to one of the key factors of influence on Ukraine and the global community: information warfare. Lies, rumors, gossip, pressure, provocations, and aggressive statements are all part of the arsenal of Russian occupiers.'

The military expert believes that for Russia to capture the Donetsk region, they would incur significant losses. 'The Russians can capture Donetsk. However, they would need to sacrifice at least 300,000 lives and several hundred wounded. This operation could stretch over a year and a half to two years. Therefore, the two months the enemy promises for the occupation of Donetsk is unrealistic. Closer to the beginning of autumn, we will see a stagnation on the battlefield, which will be linked to the depletion of the offensive potential of the Russian occupiers,' he asserted.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that the battle for Kyiv demonstrated to the world that Ukraine is not just resisting but is capable of achieving victory.
