Enemy Attacks Kharkiv with Drones, Fire Erupts – Mayor

In the early hours of Thursday, October 26, Kharkiv was targeted in a drone attack by Russian forces, resulting in a fire, as reported by the city's mayor, Ihor Terekhov.

In the early hours of Thursday, October 26, Kharkiv experienced a drone attack from Russian military forces, which utilized strike drones. This information was shared by the mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, on his Telegram channel, indicating that the first strike targeted the Kyiv district of the city.

"The enemy struck the Kyiv district of Kharkiv with a 'Shahed' drone. A fire broke out at the site of the strike. We are clarifying other details," Terekhov wrote, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation. This attack occurred at night when the city was in a state of calm, and its residents were not expecting such aggression.

According to the mayor, shortly after the first strike, another 'Shahed' drone hit the same Kyiv district. This indicates that the enemy continues its tactics of attacking critical infrastructure and residential areas, raising concerns among the city's residents.

Ihor Terekhov also reported that as a result of the second strike, several cars caught fire, which further underscores the destructive impact of these attacks on civilian infrastructure. "After this, I reported a fourth strike during the night and morning in the Kyiv district," he added, confirming that the situation remains tense.

These events unfold against the backdrop of the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia, which has persisted since 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea. Over the past few months, especially following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Kharkiv has become one of the cities that have faced numerous attacks from Russian forces. The city, located near the border with Russia, frequently becomes a target for shelling and airstrikes.

Local authorities and emergency services are actively working to mitigate the consequences of the attacks; however, constant shelling complicates their efforts. Residents of Kharkiv are urged to adhere to safety measures, leaving shelters only when absolutely necessary.

This situation once again highlights the importance of international support for Ukraine in its fight against aggression. Many countries around the world express solidarity with Ukraine, providing humanitarian aid and military equipment to defend against Russian attacks. However, despite all efforts, civilians continue to suffer from the consequences of the war.

In light of these events, Ihor Terekhov has called on the residents of Kharkiv to remain cautious and follow all instructions from local authorities. It is crucial for everyone to be prepared for potential new attacks and to adhere to safety measures to protect their lives and health.
