Military Ombudsman Highlights Alarming Situation: 2,000 Unfit Soldiers Arrive at Military Unit

In a recent interview, Military Ombudsman Olga Reshetilova revealed a troubling issue within one of Ukraine's military units, where approximately 2,000 mobilized individuals may be unfit for service, raising concerns among military leaders and the public alike.

Military Ombudsman Olga Reshetilova, in an interview recorded on March 24 and published on April 6, has drawn attention to a serious problem that has arisen in one of Ukraine's military units. According to her, around 2,000 mobilized individuals have arrived at this unit, who, unfortunately, may be unfit for military service. This situation is causing alarm not only among military commanders but also within society, as the inclusion of such a large number of unfit servicemen depletes the state's resources.

Reshetilova noted that a complex verification process is currently underway, involving representatives from the Ministry of Defense and the command of the Ground Forces. She emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into how it came to be that unfit individuals were accepted into the unit. This issue requires deep analysis to determine at what stage this mass violation occurred.

Olga Reshetilova raised a critical question: whether this situation arose at the stage of Territorial Recruitment Centers (TRC), military medical commissions (MMC), or within the military unit itself. She also pointed out that it is possible that the decision regarding this issue was made at a higher level. "This is indeed a mass violation that needs to be addressed, not just acknowledged. There are two thousand servicemen in the unit who are unfit for military service. The question is how this was even allowed to happen in the first place," she stressed.

This situation raises serious concerns about the state of military service in Ukraine, as such cases can significantly impact the combat readiness of the army. Military commanders are spending time on bureaucratic processes and the discharge of unfit individuals instead of focusing on the combat training of their units.

It is worth noting that Olga Reshetilova also mentioned that resolving the issue of servicemen leaving military units without authorization and establishing clear service terms is impossible without strengthening mobilization efforts. This underscores the need for a systematic approach to addressing issues related to army staffing and the training of servicemen.

In the context of the ongoing war in Ukraine, such situations can have serious consequences not only for the army but also for the security of the country as a whole. Therefore, it is crucial for the relevant authorities to take urgent measures to rectify this situation and ensure proper staffing of military units.
