U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance Accuses Ukraine of Interfering in Elections in the U.S. and Hungary

U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance made a striking allegation that Ukrainian intelligence services allegedly attempted to interfere in elections in the United States, specifically the upcoming 2024 presidential election, and are also influencing the electoral process in Hungary. He made these comments during a joint press conference with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on Tuesday.

Vance noted that there are elements within the Ukrainian intelligence services that systematically attempt to influence election outcomes in other countries. "Yes, we certainly know that there are elements within the Ukrainian intelligence services that try to influence the outcomes of American and Hungarian elections. This is simply their usual practice. It is part of the price we have to pay for cooperating with certain elements of their system," he stated, emphasizing that such actions are part of a broader strategy of influence.

The Vice President further clarified that his remarks specifically pertain to attempts by the Ukrainian side to interfere in the U.S. presidential elections scheduled for 2024. He stressed that there are individuals within the Ukrainian political system who actively campaigned for the Democratic Party in the weeks leading up to the elections, during which, according to him, Donald Trump won decisively in November 2024.

"There were people in the Ukrainian system who were campaigning for the Democrats literally weeks before the presidential elections, in which Donald Trump won very confidently in November 2024," Vance added, indicating that he is aware of such facts. However, he also emphasized that he does not allow these factors to influence his political activities, just as Prime Minister Orban does not.

"We are here to try to solve the problems of the people we represent, and regardless of what certain elements in the Ukrainian system think about me or anyone else, I truly believe that it is in the best interests of Ukraine, in the best interests of Europe and Hungary, and in the best interests of the United States, for this war to end as quickly as possible," Vance underlined, stressing the importance of stability in the region.

Vance's statement has sparked widespread media coverage and discussion among political analysts, as it raises questions about external interference in electoral processes, a highly sensitive topic for many countries. It is noteworthy that allegations of election interference have become frequent in recent years, particularly in the context of global political changes and conflicts occurring around the world.

It is also important to note that such statements could have serious implications for international relations between Ukraine and the United States, as well as for cooperation between Ukraine and Hungary, which has its own political interests and challenges. In an environment of global political instability, such accusations could heighten tensions in relations between countries that are trying to find common ground in addressing complex issues of security and economic cooperation.
