The Australian government has officially refuted reports regarding the deployment of special forces to the Middle East, affirming that their role in the region is focused on defense aspects. This information was reported by Ukrinform, following a news release from SBS News.

Australian Defense Minister Richard Bowen emphasized that the government is actively working on addressing the economic repercussions of the ongoing war, as well as the issue of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz for Australians. He highlighted that security and stability in the region remain top priorities for the Australian government.

Bowen also pointed out that while the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, Australians can be assured that the government is taking measures to ensure sufficient fuel supplies from other countries. "Iran must stop interrupting the flow through the Strait of Hormuz. However, Australian companies are diversifying. We are seeing more supplies arriving from other parts of the world, the United States, Mexico, and other places," the minister stated.

He further noted that Asian refineries are actively diversifying their crude oil supplies, which is critically important for Australia, as most of the refined oil products come from these refineries. "So these are smart people working in all directions, diversifying fuel sources," Bowen added.

Previously, Australian Sky News reported that 90 special forces from the Australian Special Air Service could be deployed at Al Minhad Air Base, located near Dubai, in the event of further escalation of the conflict in the region. However, these troops will not participate in any U.S. attacks, and their primary mission will be to ensure the emergency rescue of diplomats who may find themselves in danger.

Furthermore, as reported by Ukrinform, the Australian government has not received any requests for assistance in patrolling the Strait of Hormuz and does not plan to send its naval vessels to ensure the safety of navigation in the Middle East. This indicates that the Australian authorities are attempting to avoid escalating military presence in the region, focusing instead on diplomatic and economic measures.

Thus, the Australian government continues to monitor developments in the Middle East, striving to ensure the safety of its citizens and stability in the region without resorting to active military actions. The government emphasizes the importance of diversifying fuel supply sources and maintaining economic ties with other countries.
