Abuses Detected Among Military Units in Ukraine

Serious abuses have been uncovered among military units in Ukraine that were officially designated to be on the front lines but were actually remaining in the rear, according to military ombudsman Olha Reshetylova in an interview with RBK-Ukraine.

In Ukraine, serious abuses have been identified among military units that, according to documentation, were supposed to be deployed on the front lines but were, in reality, remaining in the rear. These units were reportedly handing over their financial allowances to their superiors, which constitutes a criminal offense. This alarming revelation was made by military ombudsman Olha Reshetylova during an interview with RBK-Ukraine.

Reshetylova emphasized that such actions are unacceptable and that the Office of the Ombudsman is promptly relaying information about these incidents to law enforcement agencies. 'Unfortunately, there were entire units that were abusing this combat resource usage. However, I know that both the General Staff and law enforcement are fighting against this,' she stated.

The military ombudsman also highlighted that all military personnel, regardless of their place of service, must be prepared to carry out tasks in combat zones. 'This does not mean automatic death or injury,' she added, stressing the importance of military training and readiness.

Reshetylova noted that the best way to minimize threats to military personnel is through a high level of training and professional education. She also reported on a situation in one of Ukraine's military units, where approximately two thousand individuals, who are likely unfit for service due to health issues, were found.

According to the ombudsman, an inspection is currently underway in this military unit. Due to the complexity of the situation, representatives from the Ministry of Defense and the command of the Ground Forces have been involved in the process to determine at which stage a systemic failure occurred. This indicates serious problems in the organization of military service and the urgent need for resolution.

Such cases of abuse are causing concern among the public and undermining trust in military structures. In the context of the ongoing war in Ukraine, it is vital to ensure transparency and effectiveness in the use of resources to prevent similar situations in the future.

The military ombudsman called for active measures from state authorities to prevent such offenses and ensure justice for those serving Ukraine. She emphasized the importance of maintaining the morale of military personnel and their readiness to perform tasks under challenging combat conditions.

This situation underscores the necessity for ongoing oversight of military units and their activities to ensure proper execution of duties and protect the interests of the state and its citizens.
