Approximately 2,000 Individuals Declared Unfit for Service in Ukraine

In a concerning development, around 2,000 individuals have been identified as unfit for military service due to health issues, according to Ukraine's military ombudsman, Olga Reshetilova, during an interview with RBK-Ukraine.

In a troubling revelation, approximately 2,000 individuals have been reported to a military unit in Ukraine as being unfit for service due to health conditions. This alarming information was disclosed by military ombudsman Olga Reshetilova during an interview with the news outlet RBK-Ukraine.

Reshetilova indicated that a thorough verification process is currently underway at the military unit. Given the complexity of the situation, representatives from the Ministry of Defense and the command of the Ground Forces have been involved in the investigation. The objective of this involvement is to determine at which stage a systemic failure occurred that led to such a situation, the ombudsman stated.

"It is essential to fully investigate how this happened, at what stage this mass violation occurred. Was it at the stage of the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support (TCRSS), the Military Medical Commission (MMC), or was it already at the military unit, or was a decision made somewhere higher up?" Reshetilova explained, emphasizing the importance of investigating this situation.

She also stressed that this case cannot simply be acknowledged as a fact, as it involves the mobilization of two thousand individuals who are deemed unfit for service. "The question is how this was even possible in principle," she added, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.

On April 4, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada, Dmytro Lubinets, reported the results of a monitoring mission conducted at the Uzhhorod District Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support (TCRSS). According to him, "gross violations" of human rights were identified. The visit was conducted by Lubinets' representative in Transcarpathia, Andriy Kryuchkov, who documented that the premises of the TCRSS had turned into places of detention without proper legal grounds.

Lubinets paid particular attention to the health conditions of the detained individuals, noting that the monitoring revealed the neglect of evident health issues. This information has raised alarm among human rights defenders and the public, as it pertains to violations of human rights during military mobilization.

Subsequently, the Operational Command West announced that a special commission has been initiated to investigate these facts and uncover any potential additional violations. This underscores the seriousness of the situation and the urgent need for a response to the identified problems.

Thus, the situation concerning the mobilization of individuals deemed unfit for service raises significant concern, and the subsequent actions of the relevant authorities may prove crucial in ensuring the protection of human rights in Ukraine during military operations.
