Ukraine Implements Digital Asset Accounting in the Army - Mykhailo Fedorov
Ukraine is actively introducing a new digital asset accounting system for military property, aimed at replacing traditional paper documentation. Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced this initiative, emphasizing its potential to significantly reduce bureaucracy and expedite the supply processes for military units.
In Ukraine, a new system for digital accounting of military property is being actively implemented, with the goal of replacing traditional paper documentation. Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov reported on this development, highlighting that the innovation will substantially cut down on bureaucracy and speed up the processes of supplying military units.
According to Mykhailo Fedorov, in those units where digital accounting has already been implemented, the use of paper logs and reports has been abandoned. Additionally, duplicating data on paper has been banned, which has greatly simplified the documentation process. This innovation has become particularly relevant for military units, as 56 paper documents have been eliminated, leading to a significant reduction in the overall amount of documentation.
The minister noted that this comprehensive solution involves a gradual transition away from paper accounting at all levels of management. At the same time, the processes for supplying military units are being streamlined: the introduction of property into operation has been automated, eliminating the need for paper acts, and the transfer of resources has been expedited without waiting for formal signatures. Furthermore, the accounting of drones has become more flexible, allowing for the separate transfer of their components.
“Less bureaucracy means more time for combat tasks. Quick and convenient accounting enables faster decision-making and increases the effectiveness of the military,” emphasized the Minister of Defense of Ukraine. He also clarified that the new system is currently operational only in those units where digital asset accounting has been deployed.
This initiative is part of a broader digitalization strategy in Ukraine, which is being actively implemented in the context of the ongoing war with Russia. On December 10, 2025, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced an update to the procedure for processing military accounting documents, which will now be created exclusively in electronic format. The main document will be the electronic Reserve ID.
Thus, the implementation of digital asset accounting in the army is not only a step towards reducing bureaucracy but also an important phase in the modernization of the Ukrainian armed forces, which will undoubtedly have a positive impact on their operational efficiency and effectiveness in carrying out combat tasks.
