Ukraine Launches State Program Worth 4 Billion UAH to Create Ukrainian Content

On April 3, 2023, Ukraine will kick off a new state program aimed at supporting the creation of Ukrainian cultural content, with a total funding of 4 billion UAH. This significant initiative was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

On April 3, 2023, Ukraine will launch a groundbreaking state program designed to bolster the creation of Ukrainian cultural content. The total funding for this initiative will amount to 4 billion UAH. This important initiative has been initiated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as confirmed by the program's organizers.

According to information provided by the organizers, the program aims to support the creation of a diverse range of Ukrainian content, including film, animation, television shows, contemporary music, and theatrical performances. Under this program, artists and creators will have the opportunity to receive funding through an open competition, which is intended to attract talented Ukrainians to produce high-quality cultural products.

The primary goal of this initiative is to increase the amount of Ukrainian content in the information space, support creative individuals, and create a quality alternative to the Russian content that currently dominates the market. The program's organizers emphasize that this is a crucial step in the development of Ukrainian culture and identity.

The implementation of the program will be overseen by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine in collaboration with the Office of the President of Ukraine. A briefing will take place on April 3 at 12:00 PM, during which details of the program will be presented, including the participation mechanism, themes for future projects, and competition conditions. Key figures will participate in the event, including Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy and Minister of Culture of Ukraine Tetiana Berezhna, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Olena Koval'ska, and Director of the Department of Strategic Communications and Promotion of Ukrainian Culture at the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine Hanna Krasnostup.

According to a study conducted by Gradus Research, up to 80% of Ukrainians of various ages continue to consume Russian-language content, with approximately 25% doing so on a daily basis. The most vulnerable group in this context is teenagers aged 14 to 17, who are most susceptible to the influence of Russian information and entertainment.

Furthermore, it is worth noting that Russia spends over 1 billion dollars annually on the production and dissemination of content that serves not only an entertainment function but also an ideological one. This indicates serious competition in the cultural content market, where Ukrainian products are still insufficiently represented. This, in turn, negatively impacts the formation of national identity and media literacy among Ukrainians.

The program set to launch on April 3 aims not only to develop Ukrainian cultural products in the context of war but also to enhance the presence of Ukrainian content in the information space. This is an important step towards overcoming information aggression and forming a positive image of Ukraine on the international stage.
