Application Process for Budget Subsidies for Livestock Farming Begins in Ukraine
Ukraine has officially launched the application process for a special budget subsidy aimed at supporting livestock farming, as announced by the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture.
In Ukraine, the selection of applications for a special budget subsidy has commenced, which is provided through the State Agrarian Register. This initiative includes subsidies for cows of all productivity types, as well as for the maintenance of breeding stock of goats and/or sheep. The Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine made this announcement, highlighting the government's commitment to bolstering the agricultural sector.
The special budget subsidy will amount to 7,000 hryvnias for each cow, provided that the number of cows ranges from 3 to 100 heads. For breeding goats and sheep, the subsidy will be 2,000 hryvnias per animal, with the quantity required to be between 5 and 500 heads. This financial support is designed to encourage livestock farming across various regions of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Economy emphasized that recipients are entitled to receive one-time support under only one of the specified categories. It is also important to note that in 2026, all economic entities will have the right to receive subsidies, regardless of whether they received the special budget subsidy in previous years, specifically from 2022 to 2025.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy to support livestock farming in Ukraine. In November 2025, the Cabinet of Ministers made a decision to increase the partial reimbursement of construction costs for livestock farms located in frontline areas from 25% to 50% of the total cost. This decision aims to stimulate the development of livestock farming in regions affected by military actions, addressing the urgent need for economic recovery in these areas.
In April 2025, the Ukrainian State Fund for Support of Farmers began disbursing special budget subsidies to farming households and other agricultural producers. As a result of this initiative, 7,766 farming households and other agricultural producers received subsidies totaling 386.5 million hryvnias. This financial injection is expected to significantly enhance the operational capabilities of farmers across the nation.
Thus, the new subsidies for livestock farming represent a crucial step in supporting Ukraine's agricultural sector, particularly in light of the challenges the country faces due to war and economic instability. The Ministry of Economy continues to work on developing and implementing support programs that will help farmers adapt to new conditions and ensure food security in Ukraine. The ongoing efforts reflect the government's dedication to revitalizing the agricultural landscape, ensuring that farmers have the resources necessary to thrive amidst adversity.
