Fire Breaks Out at Bashneft Oil Refinery in Ufa Following Drone Attack

In the city of Ufa, a fire broke out at the Bashneft oil refinery, triggered by a drone attack. The Ukrinform news agency reported this incident, citing data from an OSINT analysis conducted by the Astra company. Radiy Khabirov, the head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, confirmed the occurrence of the fire at one of the largest oil refining enterprises in the region.

Khabirov stated that several drones were shot down before reaching the refinery, with debris from one of the drones falling in the industrial zone. He also noted that there were no casualties as a result of the incident, which brought some relief to local residents and factory workers.

Witnesses of the attack shared a photograph taken from a distance of 11 kilometers from the refinery. The image shows flames engulfing the territory of the Bashneft-Novoil refinery. It is important to mention that two other enterprises are located near this refinery: Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim and Bashneft-UNPZ, which increases risks for the surrounding infrastructure.

The Bashneft-Novoil refinery is a crucial component of the oil refining sector in Ufa. It is a subsidiary of PJSC ANK Bashneft, which is, in turn, controlled by PJSC NK Rosneft. The facility specializes in the production of high-octane gasoline, motor and industrial oils, aviation and jet fuels, diesel fuels, bitumen, and other petroleum products. The refinery has a capacity of approximately 7.3 million tons of oil per year, making it one of the key players in the Russian oil refining industry.

This incident occurred against the backdrop of escalating tensions in the region. As reported by Ukrinform, on the night of March 30, the Russian city of Taganrog, located in the Rostov region, also experienced a drone attack. These events indicate a rise in tension in the area, driven not only by internal conflicts but also by external threats.

The authorities of the republic are urging the population to exercise caution and adhere to safety recommendations.
