During a press conference titled 'The Future of Ukrainian Sports' held in Kyiv on Thursday, Ukraine's Minister of Youth and Sports, Matviy Bidny, announced a significant achievement in the field of sports science. He revealed that over 3,000 Ukrainian athletes have already been registered in the analytical digital system Sport Science UA, highlighting the progress in the development of sports medicine and science in Ukraine.
"In terms of changing approaches to sports science, we are developing the digital system Sport Science UA. This is a unique database, with more than 3,000 of our athletes entered into this database," emphasized Bidny, stressing the importance of this project for the future of Ukrainian sports.
The Sport Science UA system not only accumulates data about athletes but also monitors medical indicators, which is critically important for injury prevention. According to the minister, the system records and analyzes the medical data of athletes, allowing for the identification of potential injury risks, as well as assessing the condition of the skeletal system and muscle tone. "This is a very important direction in sports medicine – to identify when an athlete is approaching a state where they could sustain an injury," he added, underscoring the necessity of preventing injuries through timely analytics.
Furthermore, the system enables the accumulation and deep analysis of data and results from athletes, which can significantly enhance the effectiveness of training processes and preparation for competitions. This, in turn, could lead to improved results for Ukrainian athletes on the international stage.
It is worth noting that on April 9, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine presented a vision for creating a comprehensive ecosystem that integrates the European model of sports, education, and science, along with modern sports infrastructure. This ecosystem includes a club system, autonomy for federations, and an Olympic Lab aimed at elevating the level of Ukrainian sports.
Thus, the initiative to develop the digital system Sport Science UA is part of a broader strategy for the development of sports in Ukraine, which envisions the integration of cutting-edge technologies into the training process and the management of sports data. This could be a significant step towards enhancing the competitiveness of Ukrainian athletes on the global stage.
