New Course 'Generator Operator' Launched on 'Diia.Education' Platform to Train Specialists for Mobile Communication During Blackouts
The 'Diia.Education' platform has officially launched an educational course titled 'Generator Operator,' aimed at training specialists to ensure the uninterrupted operation of mobile communication base stations during power outages.
The 'Diia.Education' platform has officially launched an educational course titled 'Generator Operator,' aimed at training specialists capable of ensuring the uninterrupted operation of mobile communication base stations during power outages. This course is designed not only for employees of utility companies but also for anyone interested in acquiring knowledge and skills in this crucial field.
According to information provided by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the educational course includes a detailed step-by-step guide on working with generators, as well as training on safe operational algorithms and defining zones of responsibility. This is particularly important in situations where stable communication becomes critically essential for the population, especially during blackouts.
The course will also include a testing component consisting of 30 questions. Completing the test will take up to 25 minutes. Upon successful completion of the testing, participants will receive a personalized certificate confirming their qualification and granting them the right to work in this field for one year. It is important to note that the certificate cannot be obtained again, emphasizing the significance of quality training.
While the training is available to all Ukrainians, only employees of utility companies can take the test and receive the certificate. This decision was made to ensure high standards of safety and quality in working with the generators used to power base stations.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine emphasized that the implementation of this training program became possible due to a government resolution adopted in November 2025. This resolution provides official permission for local authorities and utility companies to maintain mobile communication during power outages, which is extremely important in modern conditions.
As of today, 92% of mobile communication base stations are capable of operating autonomously for up to eight hours. When the batteries at the base stations run low, generators are connected to them, allowing communication to be maintained for over 72 hours. This is a significant step toward ensuring stable communication during energy crises.
Last autumn, mobile communication operators purchased 15,000 new generators, of which 14,000 have already been delivered to Ukraine. This reflects a serious approach to ensuring the operation of mobile communication in the context of an unstable energy situation.
The 'Generator Operator' educational course is being implemented by the Ministry of Digital Transformation in collaboration with the State Emergency Service and the State Labor Service of Ukraine. This initiative is an important step in training specialists capable of ensuring the uninterrupted operation of mobile communication in Ukraine, which, in turn, enhances the level of safety and communication for the entire population.
