On Sunday, at 8:00 PM, the Megaron Music Library of Greece (Lecture Hall) will host a concert featuring works by Ukrainian composers. This event is organized to promote Ukrainian culture abroad and to strengthen international connections with the support of the embassies of Ukraine and Denmark. Elizabeth Holmager Nielsen, one of the concert's organizers, shared this information with Ukrinform.
The collaboration between Ukrainian and Danish artists began several years ago, thanks to the support of the House of Europe in Ukraine and the Danish association Nielsen Saloner. This project has become part of a long-term cultural dialogue between the two countries, which has already been successfully presented in Denmark, Poland, the Netherlands, and Italy. Now, for the first time, it will take place in Greece, signifying the expansion of cultural ties and exchanges between nations.
The evening will center around the works of prominent contemporary composers. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear music from distinguished Ukrainian artists such as Valentin Silvestrov, Victoria Poleva, Sergey Zazhytko, and Andriy Merhiel, as well as Danish composers Per Nørgård and Niels Rosing-Schow. A special feature of the concert will be the performance of compositions written specifically for this duo, which will be heard in Athens for the first time, adding even greater significance to this event.
Andriy Koshman, a leading soloist of the Nova Opera formation, is known for his experiments with vocal techniques. His repertoire spans both classical opera roles and avant-garde productions that have captivated audiences in New York, Vienna, and Amsterdam. Koshman is one of the key performers of the evening, and his participation promises to deliver unforgettable experiences to the audience.
Elizabeth Nielsen, a pianist who has received the Young Artist Elite title in Denmark, is also a vital part of this project. She is renowned for her ability to blend classical performance with video art and electronics, and her recordings on the Danacord label have received high praise from critics worldwide. Nielsen emphasized that the goal of their event is not only to showcase the beauty of contemporary music but also to consolidate the Ukrainian community in Greece and demonstrate unity with European partners.
The concert in Athens is an important step in developing cultural ties between Ukraine and Denmark, as well as in supporting Ukrainian culture on the international stage. The organizers hope that this event will attract attention not only from the Ukrainian community but also from a broader audience interested in contemporary music and culture.
It is worth noting that recently, a charity concert titled 'Concert for Peace' took place in Fribourg, Switzerland, uniting leading musical figures from Ukraine and Switzerland, becoming a symbol of unity and hope. This concert reaffirms the importance of cultural initiatives in times of challenges and difficulties.
