Government Allocates Over 732.5 Million UAH for Thermal Generation Development in Communities

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has made a significant decision to allocate 732.5 million UAH from the state budget's reserve fund for the implementation of engineering and technical measures in the field of heat supply.

In a crucial move to bolster energy resilience amid ongoing challenges, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the allocation of 732.5 million UAH from the state budget's reserve fund. This funding is earmarked for the implementation of engineering and technical measures in the heating sector, as reported by the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture on Thursday.

According to the information provided by the ministry, the funding will be distributed to regional state administrations for the installation of modular boiler houses and cogeneration installations in communities. This decision aims to enhance the energy resilience of regions and ensure a stable heating season, particularly under the current martial law conditions.

Specifically, of the allocated funds, 424.8 million UAH will be used for the installation of modular boiler houses, while 307.7 million UAH will be directed towards cogeneration installations. Vitaliy Kindraty, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine, emphasized that these technologies allow for the rapid deployment of local generation, which, in turn, reduces the risks of heating supply interruptions. "This is a practical tool for preparing for the heating season amid constant attacks," he stated.

The Ministry of Economy also highlighted that the implementation of this decision will enable communities to increase their heating supply autonomy, reduce dependence on centralized systems, and ensure more reliable functioning of critical infrastructure. This is especially vital in wartime conditions, where the stability of energy systems is of utmost importance.

As previously reported by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, communities plan to connect 75 existing cogeneration installations to the network using the allocated funds, with a total electrical capacity of nearly 100 MW and thermal capacity of 107 MW. Specifically, of the total 307.7 million UAH, funds will be directed towards the installation and connection of 20 cogeneration installations in the Kharkiv region, 20 in Chernihiv, 19 in Khmelnytskyi, seven in Lviv, four in Donetsk, three in Vinnytsia, and one installation each in Sumy and Ternopil regions.

Additionally, 424.8 million UAH will be utilized for modular boiler houses, which is also an important step in ensuring heat supply. The allocated funds will also facilitate the completion of decentralization works for heat supply in Mykolaiv, which is another critical aspect in the context of energy security.

Svyrydenko emphasized that "the key task for regional state administrations and communities is to put this equipment into operation by October 1. They must develop project documentation, complete construction and installation works, prepare sites, and ensure connection to the networks." This underscores the urgency and importance of fulfilling the assigned tasks, as the timely implementation of new technologies in the heating sector is crucial for stability and security in the face of modern challenges.
