Government Allocates ₴46.5 Million for School Cafeteria Modernization
The Ukrainian government has announced a significant investment of ₴46.5 million aimed at completing the modernization of school cafeterias, a crucial step towards improving meal conditions for students.
The government of Ukraine has made a decisive move by allocating ₴46.5 million to finalize the modernization of school cafeterias, a development that is expected to greatly enhance the dining experience for students across the nation. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko shared this information via her Telegram channel, as reported by the Ukrinform news agency.
According to the Prime Minister, the funding will be directed towards 19 facilities where modernization efforts commenced in 2025. It is important to highlight that these projects are already at a high level of readiness, with at least 60% completed. The additional funds provided by the government will facilitate the swift completion of ongoing work, enabling the opening of modern cafeterias for children.
Currently, approximately 20% of food service areas in Ukrainian schools have undergone modernization. Out of these, 188 have been updated through state subsidies. Furthermore, over 1,500 cafeterias have received upgrades thanks to local budget allocations and support from international partners, indicating a proactive approach to improving school nutrition.
School meals are already available for students in grades 1-11 in frontline communities, as well as for students in grades 1-4 in other regions of the country. Starting from September 1 of this year, there are plans to provide hot lunches for all schoolchildren across Ukraine, marking a significant step towards ensuring quality nutrition for children.
Additionally, it is noteworthy that in March of this year, the government allocated over 2 billion hryvnias in subsidies for the establishment of shelters in educational institutions across 30 communities. This reflects the government's comprehensive approach to enhancing learning conditions and ensuring the safety of children in schools.
Thus, the allocation of ₴46.5 million for the modernization of school cafeterias represents a critical phase in the implementation of state policy aimed at improving the conditions for both nutrition and education for Ukrainian children. This decision underscores the government's commitment to providing every child with quality meals and comfortable learning environments.
