Government Approves Resolution to Accelerate Restoration of Frontline Roads

The Ukrainian government has adopted a crucial resolution aimed at speeding up the restoration of roads in frontline areas, as announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko via her Telegram channel.

The Ukrainian government has taken a significant step by approving a resolution designed to expedite the restoration of automobile roads in frontline zones. This important announcement was made by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on her Telegram channel, as reported by the information agency Ukrinform.

According to the new decisions, the State Special Transport Service (SSTS) has been designated as the sole contractor for works and procurement related to the current repair and maintenance of roads in combat zones and their vicinity. This designation means that the SSTS will be responsible for the restoration of highways located in frontline territories, as well as within a 40-kilometer zone from the line of combat. Furthermore, the list of roads and their prioritization will be determined by the General Staff.

Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized that the decision will allow for immediate work to commence on the most crucial routes, where military movements, evacuation of the wounded, and supply provisions occur. She noted that work will begin as soon as the list of roads is approved and their damages assessed. The financing for these efforts will be carried out within the budget of the SSTS.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov also commented on this resolution, stating that it will facilitate the acceleration of restoration and protection of state significance roads, which are critically important for military and medical logistics. He pointed out that in conditions of constant strikes and high loads on logistical routes, the state of the roads directly affects the speed of supply, evacuation of the wounded, and overall effectiveness of the Defense Forces.

According to the approved resolution, the State Special Transport Service will carry out road repair works and provide anti-drone protection for these routes. Additionally, the SSTS will have the authority to order maintenance works on roads in areas of active combat and within a 40-kilometer zone from them, as well as in temporarily occupied territories.

This resolution also outlines the list and priorities of roads that require urgent restoration, funding sources, conditions for executing works, and the order of interaction between government bodies and specifics of defense procurement. Minister Fedorov stressed that these changes expedite the execution of works and allow for the restoration of roads in critically important logistical locations.

Rapid restoration of roads is a vital factor in ensuring stable logistics, timely evacuation of the wounded, and uninterrupted supply to the front, the defense minister added.

It is worth noting that the State Special Transport Service has already been granted the right to construct and restore critically important defense infrastructure facilities without additional permitting procedures, aimed at accelerating the construction of fortifications.
