Starting April 1, 2024, Ukrposhta has announced an increase in parcel shipping rates, marking the first such move in the new year. The company attributed this decision to rising operational costs, which encompass fuel prices, infrastructure maintenance, and expenses related to maintaining continuous network operations amid blackouts and the aftermath of hostile attacks.

Ukrposhta emphasized that the increase in parcel rates was a necessary step due to ongoing changes in the economic situation. Specifically, the company noted that fuel costs for its fleet amount to approximately 40 million hryvnias per month. This represents a significant burden on the enterprise's financial resources, prompting a reevaluation of its rates.

"The company reviews rates selectively, depending on the format of the shipment," Ukrposhta officials stated. For the smallest parcels, the increase will be 5 hryvnias, while some priority rates will remain unchanged. This approach aims to maintain service accessibility for customers who utilize expedited shipping options.

Ukrposhta also pointed out that more noticeable adjustments to rates will pertain to categories where existing rates have lagged significantly behind the actual cost of delivery, as well as larger shipments. This means that customers sending large parcels may experience a more substantial increase in costs.

The company has retained the Basic rate, which allows customers to optimize their shipping expenses by choosing a delivery format based on their needs—balancing speed and cost-effectiveness. This decision was made to provide users with options, which is particularly important amid economic instability.

Additionally, customers can save money by opting for online shipment registration, receiving a 5 hryvnia discount on each parcel. Online registration also reduces service time at branches, providing an additional advantage for users.

Ukrposhta's CEO, Ihor Smiliansky, noted that even after the increase, the national postal operator's rates will remain "more than 30% lower than those of competitors." This indicates that the company is striving to maintain its competitiveness in the market despite rising costs.

According to information published on the company's website, customers can familiarize themselves with the full list of updated Ukrposhta rates through the relevant link. This will enable clients to stay informed about changes and plan their shipping expenses accordingly.

Earlier reports indicated that the board of the National Bank of Ukraine expressed doubts regarding Ihor Smiliansky's professional competence. In response, Smiliansky questioned the competence of the head of the National Bank, Andrii Pyshny. This situation highlights the existing tension between state institutions and private companies amid the current economic climate.

Thus, the increase in Ukrposhta's parcel shipping rates represents a significant step reflecting market realities and the company's needs in light of rising costs. Customers have the opportunity to adapt to the new conditions by utilizing various delivery formats and discounts offered by the company.
