Ukrainian IT Market Reaches $7.85 Billion, DefenceTech Sector Grows 35 Times
The Ukrainian IT market continues to showcase impressive results, achieving a volume of $7.85 billion, with over 2,000 companies actively engaged in both global and domestic projects.
The Ukrainian IT market continues to demonstrate impressive results, reaching a volume of $7.85 billion. Currently, more than 2,000 companies operate in Ukraine, actively involved in both global and domestic projects. This information was shared by Maria Shevchuk, Executive Director of the IT Ukraine Association, during the Tech360: Policy Meets Technology conference.
“Today, the Ukrainian IT market is valued at $7.85 billion, employing over 305,000 professionals and more than 2,000 companies that operate in both global and domestic markets. Our task is to create conditions that will transform this scale into new products, investments, and long-term growth,” Shevchuk emphasized, highlighting the importance of further development in the industry.
It is noteworthy that the IT sector contributes approximately 3.2% to Ukraine's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and provides $6.6 billion in exports, accounting for 41.6% of the total export volume of services. Interestingly, every hryvnia invested in the IT sector generates an additional 1.09 hryvnias in the economy, while one specialist creates 2.29 additional jobs in other sectors.
During discussions at the conference, experts pointed out that since the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, production in the DefenceTech sector has increased twelvefold, while the capacities of this segment have grown thirty-five times. This creates a foundation for strengthening Ukraine's position among leading countries in military IT technologies, which is extremely important under current conditions.
The conference also featured an exclusive study on the IT talent market. According to the data obtained, the number of job vacancies decreased by 21% in 2025 compared to the previous year. However, the average salary in the industry shows the highest figures in Software Engineering and Web Development sectors. The IT market is gradually shifting towards quality rather than quantity: companies strive to form strong teams, while competition remains high for junior positions, and demand for senior specialists remains stable.
Among the most promising areas of development in the Ukrainian IT market are artificial intelligence (AI), data processing, automation, cybersecurity, cloud technologies, and DevOps. The trend towards 'universal' specialists who possess both technical and business skills underscores the importance of practical experience and continuous upskilling as key success factors.
It is worth recalling that earlier reports indicated that Ukraine has achieved a significant breakthrough in drone manufacturing, now capable of producing them with minimal reliance on Chinese components. This reflects the growing independence and innovation of the Ukrainian defense industry.
