Ukrainian Apple Producers May Soon Begin Exports to Vietnam
Ukrainian apple producers are on the verge of starting shipments to the Vietnamese market, as announced by the head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, Serhiy Tkachuk, in a Facebook post.
Ukrainian apple producers may soon begin exporting their products to the Vietnamese market. This announcement was made by Serhiy Tkachuk, the head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, in a recent Facebook post.
Tkachuk noted that he held a meeting with the Deputy General Director of the Plant Production Department of Vietnam, during which they discussed the phytosanitary requirements necessary to open the Vietnamese market to Ukrainian plant products. 'The main focus is on phytosanitary requirements and the opening of the Vietnamese market for Ukrainian plant products,' he wrote. He also added that all necessary information for conducting a phytosanitary risk analysis has already been submitted, and they are currently awaiting a response from the Vietnamese side.
In addition, Tkachuk discussed with the head of the International Cooperation Department of the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development the issue of agreeing on veterinary certificates. This pertains to the opening of the market for Ukrainian animal products, including eggs, egg products, meat, and other goods.
It is worth noting that in early March 2026, Ukraine experienced a sharp increase in retail prices for quality apples. This surge may be linked to heightened demand for this product both in domestic and international markets.
Furthermore, it is significant that in March 2025, Ukraine made its first apple shipments to India, marking an important step in expanding the geography of Ukrainian agricultural exports.
During the marketing season of 2024-2025, which runs from July 2024 to June 2025, Ukraine exported 16,800 tons of apples, generating a total revenue of 10.1 million USD. The main buyers of Ukrainian apples during this marketing year included the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, each purchasing 2,900 tons, as well as Uzbekistan (1,500 tons), Turkey (1,400 tons), and Sweden (900 tons).
Thus, the opening of the Vietnamese market for Ukrainian apples could represent another significant step in the development of Ukraine's agricultural sector, contributing to increased export volumes and strengthening the positions of Ukrainian producers on the international stage.
