Ukrainian Military Strikes Drone Attack on Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant — Operations Halted
On Saturday, April 4, Ukrainian forces successfully executed a drone strike on the Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant located in the temporarily occupied part of Luhansk, resulting in the suspension of operations at the facility.
On Saturday, April 4, Ukrainian military forces conducted a successful operation, launching a drone strike on the Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant, which is situated in the temporarily occupied region of Luhansk. This strike marks the second such operation within a month, and as a result, the plant has been compelled to halt its operations.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported that the Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant is considered one of the key industrial facilities utilized by the occupying forces to support their military production. The operation targeting the plant was carried out by the Main Directorate of the SBU in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, in collaboration with the 1st Separate Center for Drone Systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant supplies products to the Russian Uralvagonzavod, where T-90M Proryv tanks and Msta-S howitzers are manufactured. This underscores the plant's significance for the military needs of the occupying forces, making it a prime target for Ukrainian military operations.
After identifying the locations of critical production capacities at the plant, Ukrainian forces launched strikes using FP-2 drones, developed by Fire Point. These attacks resulted in damage to blast furnaces, main workshops, distillation columns, gas pipelines, and substations that power the plant's operations. All of this damage has led to a complete cessation of production at the facility.
This strike occurred against the backdrop of a series of explosions that were reported in the occupied city of Alchevsk on the night of March 30. Following these explosions, power outages were recorded in Alchevsk and several other cities within the occupied part of Luhansk, indicating serious repercussions for the region's infrastructure.
Later, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the strike on the Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant, noting that a large fire was observed on its premises. This further emphasizes the importance and effectiveness of Ukrainian military actions in the fight against the occupying forces.
It is noteworthy that strikes on strategic enemy facilities are part of Ukraine's strategy to dismantle Russia's military capabilities, thereby reducing their ability to conduct combat operations on the front lines. The Security Service of Ukraine continues to actively work on detecting and neutralizing threats posed by the occupiers.
