Ukrainian Military Engages in Consultations on the Situation in the Strait of Hormuz - Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced in a video address that Ukrainian military personnel are participating in consultations regarding the ongoing situation in the Strait of Hormuz. He emphasized the global significance of safe maritime navigation and Ukraine's experience in protecting its waters in the Black Sea.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in a video address published on official channels, announced the involvement of Ukrainian military personnel in consultations concerning the future operations in the Strait of Hormuz. According to the head of state, safe maritime navigation is a global value, and Ukraine possesses experience in protecting its maritime interests in the Black Sea, underscoring the importance of this issue for the entire world.

Zelensky noted that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz can change daily, with significant implications, especially considering the events unfolding in Iran and the relationships between Europe and America. He emphasized that the interests of Ukraine, like those of all European nations, are long-term, particularly in the context of security.

The president also indicated that Ukrainian diplomats have received a relevant request from Asian countries, reflecting international interest in the regional situation. He instructed that this issue be addressed promptly, stating that contacts would be made with leaders of other nations, as well as work conducted at the level of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other ministries.

Zelensky stressed that the primary task is to provide Ukraine with real capabilities for defense, which is critically important in the face of modern challenges. He highlighted that the security of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz is a vital aspect not only for Ukraine but for the entire world.

It is worth recalling that during an informal meeting of the Foreign Ministers of European Union member states held in Kyiv, Zelensky compared the situation in the Strait of Hormuz to the blockade of shipping in the Black Sea by Russia. This comparison underscores the seriousness of the threats that may arise from instability in the region.

Furthermore, it is important to note that safe maritime navigation is a crucial element of the global economy, and its disruption can lead to severe consequences for international trade. In this regard, Ukraine's proactive stance in international consultations could represent a significant step towards ensuring stability in the region.

Zelensky called on the international community for solidarity on security issues and emphasized that Ukraine must continue to work on strengthening its defense capabilities and collaborating with international partners.
