The city of Adana, Turkey, hosted the 14th International Orange Blossom Carnival, where the Ukrainian community played a significant role. This vibrant event, which takes place in April when the orange trees are in bloom, attracts numerous visitors from across the country and abroad, as reported by Ukrinform, citing the Turkish presidential administration's communications directorate.
Irem Tari, the head of the Ukrainian community and the leader of the Solidarity, Cooperation, and Friendship Cultural and Educational Society in Adana, shared her impressions of the Ukrainian participation in the carnival. She stated, “Initially, we organized a showcase of traditional costumes. Then our children and women presented a dance performance. We aimed to convey everything that is part of our culture. The carnival, as always, is bright and very beautiful. I hope we also added our own color to Adana.”
The Orange Blossom Carnival in Adana is renowned not only for its traditional celebrations but also for its diverse range of cultural activities. This year's carnival features concerts, cultural, artistic, and sports events, competitions, and costume parades. The event will continue until April 5, with booths, including the Ukrainian one, operating until April 8.
This carnival is an important event for the local community, as it underscores the cultural diversity of the region and fosters intercultural connections. The Ukrainian community, actively participating in such events, demonstrates its readiness to integrate into Turkish society while preserving its traditions and cultural characteristics.
It is worth noting that earlier, in October 2025, the IX International Festival-Competition “Ukrainian Festivities” took place in Antalya, which also served as a significant platform for promoting Ukrainian culture abroad. Plans are underway for the first International Crimean Film Festival in Istanbul in the fall of 2026, further emphasizing the active role of the Ukrainian community in Turkey regarding cultural initiatives.
