Ukrainian Diaspora in Southern France Organizes Walk Along the Paths of Artist Oleksa Hryshchenko

The Franco-Ukrainian Association in Southern France (AFUCA) has announced a unique walking tour dedicated to the renowned Ukrainian artist Oleksa Hryshchenko. This event, set against the picturesque backdrop of the French Riviera, offers a wonderful opportunity for the Ukrainian diaspora and all interested individuals to explore the artist's work, much of which was created during his time in France.

On the beautiful French Riviera, the Franco-Ukrainian Association in Southern France (AFUCA) is set to host a special walking tour honoring the legacy of the distinguished Ukrainian artist Oleksa Hryshchenko. This event promises to be an enriching experience for the Ukrainian community and art enthusiasts alike, allowing them to delve into the creative world of an artist who spent a significant portion of his life in France.

Oleksa Hryshchenko (1883–1977) is a globally recognized artist whose contributions to the art world are both profound and lasting. During the walking tour, participants will have the chance to view his paintings from various periods, as well as unique sketches preserved in private collections. This opportunity will enable attendees to gain a deeper understanding of Hryshchenko's artistic vision and how his works reflect the spirit of their time.

Following the tour, participants will stroll through the charming streets of the old town of Cagnes-sur-Mer. The event organizers invite attendees to discover the locations where Hryshchenko created his masterpieces over a century ago. The architecture of this historic town, which has remained largely unchanged, will provide an inspiring backdrop for creativity.

Inspired by the master's works, guests will also have the opportunity to create their own landscapes or sketches. The museum will supply all necessary materials, including paper, pencils, and paints. However, organizers recommend that participants bring their own water containers if they plan to paint with watercolors. All skill levels are welcome, including those who have never held a paintbrush before.

The gathering time for participants is set for 2:30 PM. The meeting point will be at the Château-Musée Grimaldi, located at Place du Château, 06800 Cagnes-sur-Mer. Participation in the tour and the workshop is free of charge, although entry to the château costs 4 euros.

Organizers emphasize that no prior reservation is required, but they advise arriving early to secure a spot. The number of participants for the workshops is limited: the adult group will consist of up to 20 people, while the children's group (ages 7 and up) will accommodate up to 15 children.

This event is part of AFUCA's efforts to promote Ukrainian art in France and to preserve the memory of outstanding Ukrainians whose lives are intertwined with this country. It is also noteworthy that from April 5 to 11, the ninth annual Ukrainian festival KobzART-2026 will take place in southern France, further highlighting the vibrant activity of the Ukrainian community in the region's cultural life.

Everyone is invited to join this exciting event and immerse themselves in the world of Ukrainian art. Stay updated on our news through our channels on Telegram, Instagram, and YouTube to not miss important events and news from the Ukrainian diaspora in France.
