Stanislav Goruna, a prominent Ukrainian karate practitioner known for his years of experience on the international stage, is currently in Japan. He arrived in the country at the invitation of the Japan Karate Federation (JKF), marking a significant event for both nations. According to the press service of the Ukrainian Karate Federation, Goruna conducted a kumite training session, an essential component of karate, for the Japanese team.

This event not only highlights international cooperation in the sports world but also signifies the recognition of the talent and expertise of the Ukrainian master. In a letter of appreciation addressed to Stanislav Goruna, JKF President Yoshihiro Sasakawa noted that his outstanding skills and vast experience have become a valuable resource for Japanese athletes, providing them with new knowledge and inspiration for their ongoing training.

It is worth mentioning that this is the first time in history that a foreign expert has had the opportunity to train the Japanese national karate team. The JKF president emphasized that such an initiative will contribute to the development of karate in Japan, as the exchange of experiences between athletes from different countries can significantly enhance skill levels.

In addition to conducting the training session, Goruna also plans to meet with the buyer of his bronze Olympic medal, which he won at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics. This medal was sold at auction at the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine for $20,500, with the proceeds directed to support Ukrainian military efforts. Upon learning about Goruna's story, the medal's owner decided to return the medal to the Ukrainian athlete, symbolizing support and solidarity.

This meeting will be an important event not only for Goruna but also for the entire Ukrainian sports community, as it demonstrates how sports can unite people regardless of their background or nationality. Stanislav Goruna, as a representative of Ukraine, continues to inspire young athletes and foster connections between Ukraine and other countries through sports.

Thus, Stanislav Goruna's stay in Japan and his training with the Japanese national team not only underscore his professionalism but also open new horizons for cooperation between countries in the field of sports. The Ukrainian karateka remains a role model for many young athletes, demonstrating that even in challenging times, great achievements can be made, and support for one another is crucial.
