Ukraine Imposes Sanctions on Russian Entities Supporting Enemy Military-Industrial Complex and Evasion of Sanctions
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a series of decrees implementing sanctions against Russian entities. These measures target companies and individuals that support the enemy's military-industrial complex and facilitate the evasion of international sanctions.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has taken a decisive step in the ongoing conflict with Russia by signing a series of decrees that put into effect the decisions made by the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) regarding the imposition of sanctions against Russian entities. These sanctions are specifically aimed at companies and individuals that provide support to the enemy's military-industrial complex (MIC), assist in circumventing international sanctions, and engage in illegal business activities in temporarily occupied territories. Notably, the sanctions also target those involved in the construction of the Kerch Bridge.
According to a statement from the president's press service, the sanctions package includes 26 individuals and 31 legal entities. Among these companies are manufacturers of underwater, surface, and aerial unmanned robotic complexes, as well as the software that supports them. This list also includes enterprises engaged in the production and servicing of various types of weaponry, including electronic warfare (EW) systems, air defense weapon systems, armored vehicles, submarines, ships, auxiliary fleet vessels, port equipment, and their components.
Furthermore, sanctions have been applied to companies in the aviation industry, particularly those involved in the production and repair of parts for helicopters from the Mi-8, Mi-17, Mi-171, Mi-172, and Mi-14 families. This action underscores the Ukrainian government's serious commitment to combating the Russian military potential that continuously threatens national security.
Another decision included in this sanctions package pertains to 7 individuals and 11 legal entities. These are companies and their leaders who actively facilitate the evasion of sanctions. Among them are manufacturers of components for missiles such as the X-101, X-59M2/M2A, and the Iskander-K system. This list also encompasses companies engaged in illegal business activities in temporarily occupied territories and those associated with the construction of the Crimean Bridge.
It is important to note that Ukraine plans to provide its international partners with all necessary information to synchronize sanctions across international jurisdictions. This highlights Ukraine's readiness to collaborate with the international community in the fight against aggression and violations of international law by Russia.
Vladyslav Vasyuk, the advisor and presidential envoy for sanctions policy, emphasized that these sanctions strike at the core of the Russian military-industrial complex. They encompass both manufacturers of weapons and critical components, as well as networks that facilitate the evasion of sanctions. “We are systematically closing the links, including activities in temporarily occupied territories. The pressure will only increase – both from our side and together with our partners,” Vasyuk stated, reflecting Ukraine's determination in its struggle against Russian aggression.
