Ukraine Strikes Russian Fuel Trains, Destroys Rare 'Inokhodets' Drones in Crimea
The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue their active operations against Russian military forces, targeting strategically significant facilities. On Saturday, April 4, the General Staff of Ukraine reported successful strikes on Russian railway fuel convoys in occupied Luhansk, as well as the destruction of several 'Inokhodets' drones at an airfield in Crimea.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are intensifying their military actions against Russian forces amid the ongoing conflict, delivering significant blows to critical infrastructure. On Saturday, April 4, the General Staff of Ukraine announced successful attacks on Russian railway fuel convoys in occupied Luhansk, as well as the destruction of several 'Inokhodets' drones at a military airfield in Crimea.
During the night, Ukrainian units struck railway trains transporting fuel and lubricants in the areas of Shchotove and Stanytsia Luhanska. The General Staff noted that the destruction of these logistical hubs severely complicates the supply of fuel for the Russian occupying army in the region. This, in turn, could impact the ability of Russian forces to conduct operations and maintain their combat readiness.
Additionally, a recent strike on a drone storage facility at the Kirovsky airfield in occupied Crimea has been confirmed. This attack resulted in the destruction of one 'Inokhodets' unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and damage to three other units of this high-quality aviation equipment.
The 'Inokhodets' drone, known in export markets as 'Orion,' is a medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) UAV designed for strikes on ground targets and reconnaissance missions. This aircraft boasts an operational range of up to 250 kilometers (155 miles) and can carry a payload of up to 200 kilograms of aerial munitions. Each unit is valued at several million dollars.
Russian forces frequently utilize these drones for reconnaissance and countering Ukrainian naval drone operations in the Black Sea, underscoring the importance of eliminating such technologies for the Ukrainian side.
Earlier on the same day, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and drone forces struck the Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant for the second time this month. This facility supplies critical materials to Uralvagonzavod, which manufactures T-90M tanks and Msta-S howitzers. The strike on this site signifies Ukraine's targeted strategy to disrupt Russian production capabilities that support military efforts.
These events unfold against the backdrop of escalating conflict in the region, where Ukraine has also ramped up its long-range strike campaign deep into Russian territory. On the same night, drones targeted two chemical plants – TolyattiKaukguk and KuybyshevAzot – in the Samara region, following a significant strike on the Bashneft-Nova oil refinery in Ufa. This indicates that Ukrainian forces are actively working to undermine critical infrastructure in Russia to diminish its military capabilities.
