Ukraine Welcomes US-Iran Ceasefire Agreement

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has publicly expressed Ukraine's approval of the ceasefire agreement reached between the United States and Iran, which also includes the unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial strategic route for international trade.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has issued a statement highlighting that Ukraine welcomes the agreements reached between the United States of America and Iran regarding a ceasefire. This agreement also entails the unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz, an essential strategic pathway for international trade.

"We welcome the agreement between US President Donald Trump and the Iranian regime regarding the unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz and the ceasefire, as well as the mediation efforts of Pakistan. American resolve is working," Sybiha wrote on his social media page on X.

Sybiha also emphasized the necessity of demonstrating sufficient resolve to compel the aggressor country, Russia, to cease fire and end the war against Ukraine. This statement has gained significance in light of the ongoing aggression from Russia against Ukraine, which has persisted for several years.

It is noteworthy that on the night of April 8, President Donald Trump announced the decision to suspend bombings of Iran for two weeks, contingent upon the immediate opening of the Strait of Hormuz. Trump underscored that the United States had already achieved and surpassed all military objectives and had also made "significant progress" towards achieving a final peace agreement.

Subsequently, Iran's Supreme National Security Council confirmed the agreement for a two-week ceasefire with the United States. Concurrently, Israel also agreed to suspend bombings during the negotiations, indicating the importance of this process for stability in the region.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who acted as a mediator, stated that he invites delegations from Iran and the United States to meet in Islamabad for further negotiations. This step could become a crucial milestone in achieving a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

However, prior to this, Trump made a series of threats against Iran, stating that the United States could "destroy Iran in one night" and bomb all the country's bridges and power plants within hours. He also warned that if his demands were not met, "whole civilizations would perish." These statements have raised concerns among the international community, as they could lead to an escalation of the conflict.

The ultimatum announced by Trump was set to expire at 8:00 PM Eastern Time in the United States (03:00 on April 8 in Kyiv). This moment has become critical for the further development of events in the region and for the relationships between states.

Thus, the situation in the region remains tense, and the subsequent actions of international players could significantly impact peace and stability not only in Iran but also in Ukraine, which continues to grapple with aggression from Russia.
