In his evening address on Thursday, April 2, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the significance of ongoing cooperation with Gulf countries facing pressure from the Iranian regime. He noted that Ukraine is actively engaged in all formats of interaction with international partners aimed at enhancing security in the region.
Zelensky highlighted new agreements that, according to him, will allow Ukraine to further represent its interests in new security formats. “This will certainly strengthen our export capabilities and Ukrainian defense potential,” the president stressed, underscoring the importance of these efforts in bolstering the country amid contemporary challenges.
The president also announced that the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, will provide a detailed report on the outcomes of cooperation with each country, starting from the Gulf nations and extending to Turkey, on Friday, April 3. This information will be crucial for understanding the current situation and Ukraine's subsequent steps in international politics.
Additionally, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga participated in a joint format with European partners, where discussions were held regarding the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and issues related to freedom of navigation. This topic is particularly relevant, as the Strait of Hormuz is a strategically important waterway through which a significant portion of the world's oil supplies passes.
The president concluded that in the face of modern threats, it is impossible to envision real security without Ukraine's active participation. This indicates that the country not only seeks to protect its interests but is also ready to become a significant player on the international stage, ensuring stability and security in the region.
