Ukraine to Supplement Security Guarantees Document in Coming Days - Zelensky
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced during a press briefing that Ukraine will enhance its security guarantees document in the coming days, following constructive talks with the United States.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, while speaking with journalists, revealed that Ukraine is set to supplement its security guarantees document in the coming days. This information was conveyed by a correspondent from Ukrinform, who noted that the discussions with the American side took place in a constructive and partnership-oriented atmosphere.
Zelensky emphasized the significance of these discussions, stating that complex issues regarding territories can only be resolved by the leaders of three countries. He added that Ukraine needs to have a clear understanding of the security guarantees, which must be articulated in a way that is comprehensible to all Ukrainians. The President remarked, "We do not know if we will receive what we agreed upon, but the agreement is this: in the coming days, Ukraine will incorporate responses to the questions we have regarding these security guarantees into the developed document."
The President also highlighted the necessity for a clear response from the United States in the event of renewed aggression from Russia. He stressed that Ukraine maintains an army of 800,000, but raised concerns about how the army will be funded, aside from the Ukrainian budget.
Volodymyr Zelensky further noted that in the context of security guarantees, the provision of anti-ballistic systems for Ukraine will be considered. Currently, such systems are absent in Europe, yet they are present in Middle Eastern countries. The President indicated that Ukraine will soon present its vision on this matter, after which the United States will be able to make its adjustments. A meeting with the United States is planned following this presentation.
"I have invited the American negotiation delegation to Kyiv. The delegation will do everything possible under the current circumstances – during the war with Iran – to come to Kyiv. This is an alternative option for a trilateral meeting at the technical group level. The American group can come to us and then go to Moscow. If it does not work out in threes, let’s do it this way – in turn. This is our proposal. I have heard positive signals from our partners regarding such a proposal. We are also continuing to work on exchanges. We really hope that they will take place," Zelensky underscored.
It is worth noting that President Volodymyr Zelensky's conversation with the American side took place on April 1. In January 2026, a document regarding security guarantees between Ukraine and the United States was prepared, indicating active work on security and cooperation issues between the countries.
