Ukraine Plans to Launch Railway Route to Varna, Bulgaria in Early June, Says Deputy Prime Minister

Ukraine is gearing up to launch a new railway route that will connect the capital city of Kyiv with the popular Bulgarian resort of Varna. According to Oleksii Kuleba, the Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, this route is scheduled to commence in early June. The train service will pass through cities such as Lviv, Chernivtsi, Suceava, and Bucharest, making it convenient for passengers wishing to travel between Ukraine and Bulgaria.

In information published by Kuleba on his Telegram channel on Monday, it was noted that the Romanian and Bulgarian sides have already preliminarily agreed on the possibility of including this route in the PSO (Public Service Obligation) mechanism. This could significantly reduce ticket prices for passengers, although negotiations on this matter are still ongoing. Kuleba emphasized that the next step will be to finalize the tariff decision and launch a test train in collaboration with partners.

It is worth mentioning that at the end of March this year, there was already information regarding plans by Ukraine and Bulgaria to launch a passenger train in test mode through Romania during the summer. This indicates the active efforts of both countries to improve transport connections and develop tourism opportunities.

The launch of the new railway route will be an important step in developing the infrastructure that connects Ukraine with other European countries. It also opens up new opportunities for tourists eager to visit Bulgaria, as well as for Ukrainians wishing to travel abroad.
