Ukraine Secures Fuel Imports from European Partners and Middle Eastern Countries — Volodymyr Zelensky
Ukraine has taken a significant step in securing necessary fuel supplies by reaching agreements with international partners for imports. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky during his evening video address on Tuesday, April 7.
Ukraine has made a crucial advancement in ensuring the required volumes of fuel by negotiating import agreements with international partners. President Volodymyr Zelensky highlighted this development during his evening video address on Tuesday, April 7. He emphasized that active efforts are currently underway to supply fuel to the country, which is a vital aspect for the stability of the energy market.
“It is important that we have agreements regarding the supply of fuel to Ukraine, and currently, necessary volumes are being imported for March and April. I thank all companies: both state-owned and private sector,” Zelensky stated, underscoring the significance of collaboration between various sectors of the economy.
The President also added that Ukraine is actively negotiating fuel supplies with European partners as well as countries in the Middle East. According to him, this is part of a new Ukrainian cooperation strategy aimed at ensuring the stability and independence of the country's energy resources.
Additionally, Volodymyr Zelensky drew attention to the rising fuel prices in Ukraine, which have occurred due to the war in the Middle East and supply issues with oil from Gulf countries. He specifically noted that Iran has blocked the Strait of Hormuz, significantly impacting global oil supplies.
In light of this situation, the President instructed the Ministries of Economy and Energy of Ukraine to develop a support program for consumers of diesel, gasoline, and automotive gas. “I expect systematic solutions,” he emphasized, pointing to the necessity of taking measures to protect citizens from the consequences of rising fuel prices.
Subsequently, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a fuel Cashback program, which allows drivers to receive partial compensation for their fuel expenses. This program began on March 20 and will continue until May 1, providing an opportunity for Ukrainians to alleviate their financial burden during this period of rising prices.
Thus, the Ukrainian authorities are taking measures to ensure stability in the fuel market, actively collaborating with international partners and implementing support programs for citizens. This reflects Ukraine's commitment to energy independence and stability in the face of global challenges.
