Scheduled Power Outages to Take Effect Across All Regions of Ukraine
The National Energy Company of Ukraine, Ukrenergo, has announced the implementation of hourly power outage schedules across all regions of the country due to anticipated increases in electricity consumption during evening hours.
As reported by Ukrinform, the National Energy Company of Ukraine, known as Ukrenergo, has officially declared the introduction of hourly electricity outage schedules in every region of Ukraine. This decision comes in response to a projected rise in electricity consumption, which is expected to peak during the evening hours from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. During this time, due to the high levels of energy consumption, restrictions will be enforced.
In its announcement, Ukrenergo highlighted that the primary reason for implementing these restrictions is the aftermath of previous Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which have resulted in a significant power deficit within the energy system. This deficit becomes particularly pronounced during periods of high electricity consumption.
“To find out the time and duration of power outages at your address, please check the official pages of your regional distribution system operator (oblenegro). We urge everyone to limit the use of high-power electrical appliances during evening hours,” emphasized Ukrenergo, calling on the population to conserve electricity.
It is worth noting that as of the morning of April 8, electricity consumption in Ukraine had risen by 16% compared to the previous day. This increase can be attributed to the cold weather affecting all regions, as well as cloudy conditions that have negatively impacted the efficiency of household solar power plants. Consequently, this has led to increased strain on the centralized energy system.
In light of these circumstances, Ukrenergo urges citizens to adhere to recommendations for energy conservation, particularly during evening hours when consumption reaches its peak. It is crucial for every consumer to recognize their role in preserving the country's energy resources, especially in the context of wartime conditions and ongoing threats from aggressors.
