Special Screening of the Documentary Film 'Palyanytsia' to Take Place in Warsaw

A special screening of the documentary film 'Palyanytsia' is set to occur in Warsaw, organized by the Ukrainian Embassy in Poland in collaboration with the Polish National Film Archive – Audiovisual Institute.

The event is also being realized with the support of the 'Culture vs War' project and the Association 'Development and Support of Ukrainian Cinema – Watch Ukrainian!' as reported by a correspondent from Ukrinform.

The documentary film 'Palyanytsia' tells the story of American street artists known as Bandit, Johnny, and Tristan. These artists travel across Ukraine amidst the full-scale Russian war, capturing destruction, human resilience, and the daily realities of war. Through 33 artistic works created in cities such as Kyiv, Irpin, Bucha, Kharkiv, Odesa, and Mykolaiv, the film showcases how art becomes a voice of resistance, identity, and human dignity.

As part of the event, a vocal performance by the Ukrainian choir 'Etnorytmy' is also scheduled. This ensemble will present Ukrainian music that reflects the cultural heritage and contemporary life of the country. Additionally, an installation exhibition created by Bandit, Johnny, and Tristan will feature photographs and paintings dedicated to Ukrainian women. This exhibition portrays Ukraine through the eyes of the artists and demonstrates their creative process, which is an essential aspect of cultural exchange and support for Ukrainian art.

It is important to note that the event will take place against the backdrop of active support for Ukraine from the international community. As reported by Ukrinform, the Consul General of Ukraine in Gdańsk, Svitlana Krysa, visited the Ukrainian Library in Gdańsk on April 7, where she presented 25 artistic books received from Ukrainian publishers on a charitable basis. This gesture underscores the significance of cultural support and cooperation between Ukraine and Poland in the context of war.

The event in Warsaw will serve as yet another opportunity for Ukrainians and Poles to unite around art, which is a powerful tool in the struggle for identity and memory. The organizers invite everyone interested to join this important cultural event, which not only highlights the complex realities of today but also demonstrates the strength of the human spirit and creativity in times of war.
