On April 5, 2023, the Ukrainian community in the Republic of Slovenia gathered to celebrate Easter, marking a significant moment of unity and prayer for peace. This event was highlighted by the Ukrainian Embassy in Slovenia on its Facebook page, emphasizing its importance for Ukrainians far from home.

On April 5, 2023, the Ukrainian community in the Republic of Slovenia came together to celebrate Easter, which turned out to be a significant moment of unity and prayer for peace. The Ukrainian Embassy in Slovenia reported this on its Facebook page, highlighting the importance of this event for Ukrainians who find themselves far from their homeland.

The festive service was led by Father Ivan Skalivskyi, who serves as the vicar of the Križevci Greek Catholic Diocese for the pastoral care of Ukrainian faithful in Slovenia, as well as the parish priest of Ljubljana. During the service, the central theme was a plea for peace in their native land, a sentiment that resonated deeply amidst the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Those present prayed not only for peace but also for the health and strength of Ukrainian soldiers defending their country on the front lines, as well as for all those affected by the consequences of the war. This collective prayer became a symbol of unity and support, bringing together Ukrainians during this challenging time.

The embassy's message noted that this day marked a moment of special unity for the community, which, despite being far from their homeland, maintains its traditions and spirit. "On this special day, everyone united in a common prayer for peace in Ukraine, for our defenders, and for every Ukrainian family. May the light of Easter fill our hearts with hope, faith, and strength," the embassy's statement read.

Diplomatic representatives wished all Ukrainians warm, bright, and most importantly, peaceful days, emphasizing the importance of supporting one another during these difficult times.

It is worth noting that the Ukrainian community not only in Slovenia but also in other countries actively celebrates Easter. For instance, the Ukrainian community in Italy solemnly celebrated the Bright Resurrection of Christ at the Patriarchal Pro-Cathedral of St. Sophia in Rome. The festive services brought together numerous parishioners, volunteers, and families who have found refuge abroad due to the full-scale war.

These events demonstrate that Ukrainians, despite challenging circumstances, continue to uphold their traditions and maintain a connection to their native culture. The significance of such events cannot be overstated, as they provide an opportunity for Ukrainians abroad to feel unity and support for one another, as well as to preserve hope for a better future.
