Fourth Largest Oil Refinery in Russia Halts Operations Due to Ukrainian Drone Attacks

The fourth largest oil refinery in Russia has ceased operations following drone strikes, as confirmed by Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council.

According to a report by Ukrinform, Andriy Kovalenko, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, confirmed via his Telegram channel that the fourth largest oil refinery in Russia has stopped operations due to drone attacks.

Kovalenko specified that the facility in question is 'Nizhny Novgorodnefteorgsintez', which has the capacity to process approximately 320,000 barrels of oil per day. This refinery is a critical component of Russia's oil refining infrastructure, and its shutdown could significantly impact fuel supplies across the country.

It is known that on the night of April 5, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the 'Lukoil-Nizhny Novgorodnefteorgsintez' refinery, located in the city of Kstovo in the Nizhny Novgorod region of the Russian Federation. This facility is strategically important as it not only supplies fuel to the Russian armed forces but also to the critically important Moscow region, which consumes nearly 30% of all gasoline in the country.

The production capacity of 'Nizhny Novgorodnefteorgsintez' is 17 million tons of raw materials per year. The enterprise produces over 50 types of products, including aviation and diesel fuel, which are utilized in the Russian military-industrial complex and aggressive military units.

This attack is part of a broader strategy by Ukraine to dismantle Russian military infrastructure, which has become particularly relevant amid the ongoing conflict. The shutdown of such an important refinery as 'Nizhny Novgorodnefteorgsintez' could severely complicate fuel supplies for Russian military operations and impact their effectiveness.

In wartime, the informational component is crucial, and the Center for Countering Disinformation continues to inform the public about ongoing events and the consequences of actions taken by Ukraine. Specifically, Kovalenko urged Ukrainians to stay updated with the news and to exercise caution.
