New Drone Attack Reported on One of Russia's Largest Oil Terminals in Novorossiysk

On the night of April 4, 2023, residents of Novorossiysk, located in southern Russia, were alarmed by numerous explosions that, according to the Telegram channel ASTRA, were the result of a drone attack on one of the country's largest oil terminals, known as 'Sheskharis'. This terminal is strategically significant for Russia, as it plays a key role in facilitating the export of oil and petroleum products.

Veniamin Kondratiev, the Governor of the Krasnodar region, confirmed that the drone attack resulted in damage to six apartment buildings and two private homes. He also reported that eight individuals were hospitalized due to the incident. According to Kondratiev, debris from the drones was discovered in the vicinity of several enterprises, although he did not specify which enterprises were affected.

The 'Sheskharis' oil terminal is part of the structure of PJSC 'Chernomortransneft', which is a subsidiary of PJSC 'Transneft'. This terminal is the largest in southern Russia and is responsible for the reception, storage, and export loading of oil and petroleum products onto tankers. Due to its infrastructure, the terminal holds immense importance for the economy of the region and the country as a whole.

This attack on the 'Sheskharis' terminal is not the first of its kind. The facility has previously been targeted, including incidents in early March 2023 and damage sustained in November 2022.
