Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Denies Connection to Explosive Found Near Gas Pipeline in Serbia

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has responded to an incident in Serbia where explosives were discovered near the 'Turkish Stream' gas pipeline, firmly rejecting any links to Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has reacted to an incident in Serbia, where explosives were found near the 'Turkish Stream' gas pipeline. According to the information agency Ukrinform, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian MFA made a statement on the social media platform X, categorically denying any attempts to associate Ukraine with this incident.

"We categorically reject attempts to falsely link Ukraine to the incident involving explosives discovered near the 'Turkish Stream' pipeline in Serbia. Ukraine has no connection to this whatsoever," the spokesperson emphasized, highlighting that such accusations are baseless.

It is worth noting that in his statement, the MFA spokesperson also suggested that a Russian operation under a false flag might be behind this incident. "Most likely, this is a Russian operation under a false flag as part of Moscow's massive interference in the Hungarian elections," he added, indicating a potential political motivation behind the incident.

This incident occurs against the backdrop of escalating tensions between Ukraine and Russia, as well as active political processes in Hungary, where elections are approaching. The discovery of explosives near the strategic gas pipeline, which transports Russian gas to Serbia and Hungary, has generated significant media attention and concern among political experts.

Recall that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić confirmed on the morning of Sunday, April 5, that police had found explosives near the Balkan Stream gas pipeline. This pipeline is a critical component of the region's energy infrastructure, and any incidents related to it could have serious consequences for the energy security of not only Serbia but also neighboring countries.

The Balkan Stream pipeline is known to be part of a larger project aimed at ensuring stable supplies of Russian gas to Europe. However, in the context of political tension and conflict between Ukraine and Russia, such incidents can be used as tools to destabilize the situation in the region.

In light of this, the Ukrainian MFA calls on the international community to closely monitor developments and not to succumb to provocations that may aim to discredit Ukraine on the international stage. The Ukrainian side is ready to cooperate with international partners to ensure stability and security in the region.
