Spanish Foreign Ministry Sees No Immediate End to War in Iran

The Spanish Foreign Ministry has expressed doubts about the possibility of ending the conflict in Iran in the near future, highlighting the ongoing tensions in the Middle East and their potential global repercussions.

In a recent interview with RTVE, Spanish Foreign Minister José Albares stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not foresee an end to the conflict in Iran anytime soon. He emphasized that the situation in the Middle East remains tense and could have serious consequences for the entire world.

Albares pointed out the importance of honestly informing the Spanish public about the current state of affairs. "Everything indicates that this war will continue on all fronts. The risk we see is that this endless war, which the Middle East has been embroiled in for decades, may spread further," he said. The minister underscored that conflicts in the region have the potential for escalation, which could lead to even greater problems.

Additionally, Albares highlighted the global economic implications that the conflict in the Middle East could have on the rest of the world. "It seems that there is no other way for the peoples of the Middle East to interact except through war, but this is already reaching such proportions that, at least in terms of its economic consequences, it affects the entire world," he added, indicating that the war could trigger economic upheavals not only in the region but also beyond.

He also emphasized that Spain stands against the war and calls for peaceful negotiations and de-escalation of the conflict. "That is why Spain is against the war, advocating for negotiations and de-escalation; and this is certainly the path we will continue to pursue," Albares concluded, expressing hope for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

It is worth noting that on February 28, 2023, the United States and Israel conducted joint strikes against regime targets in Iran. In response to these actions, Iran attacked American bases located in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Jordan. These events triggered a new wave of tension in the region.

Furthermore, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) confirmed that Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed on the morning of February 28. This news has become yet another factor that could influence the further development of events in the region.

In light of such a tense situation, it is crucial to monitor developments and maintain informational awareness, as conflicts in the Middle East can have far-reaching consequences for the international community.
