Preparations for Winter Underway at 245 Energy Facilities Across Ukraine, Says Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that preparations for the winter season are in full swing, with work being conducted at 245 energy facilities nationwide. This update was shared during a government-level meeting focused on the energy sector's current situation.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky took to Facebook to share critical information regarding the ongoing preparations for the upcoming winter season. He revealed that as part of this initiative, work is being conducted at 245 energy facilities across the country. This announcement was made during a government-level meeting, which included discussions with regional representatives about the current state of the energy sector, as reported by Ukrinform.

During his address, Zelensky emphasized that clear tasks have been established for regions and major cities concerning alternative energy generation and the restoration of energy facilities. He highlighted that the government has provided the necessary resources and solutions for the implementation of cogeneration installations. 'Two hundred forty-five facilities across the country are already operational, and we began this work despite financial shortages,' he stated.

In addition, Zelensky reminded the public that a European support package amounting to 90 billion euros for Ukraine remains blocked. 'It is a problem that Europeans cannot find a solution and fulfill what they promised. Five billion euros from this package were supposed to be allocated specifically for preparing Ukraine for the next winter and for urgent recovery efforts. We hope that a solution will eventually be reached,' he stressed.

The President also pointed out that preparations for the upcoming winter involve the gradual restoration of facilities that were destroyed as a result of Russian attacks this past winter. 'Resilience plans have been approved for every region across the country. Repairs on roads are also ongoing after the winter. It is crucial at the community level and among regional authorities not to lose time. Every significant facility must be protected,' Zelensky noted.

He added that work is currently underway with the available resources. Zelensky expressed gratitude to the government for their efforts, as well as to all representatives of regional administrations and cities who are assisting in this vital endeavor. 'The protection of energy and critical infrastructure is an absolute priority,' the President underscored.

It is worth recalling that earlier, the President of Ukraine stated that the Defense Forces are responding to attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure by targeting Russian oil terminals in the Baltic. This indicates that energy security remains a central focus for the state amid ongoing military actions.
