Drone Discovered in Forest in Southwestern Poland

An unusual incident unfolded in a forest located in the Strzelce County of Opole Voivodeship, Poland, when a passerby stumbled upon a drone, prompting immediate police action.

In a remarkable event that has raised concerns about drone activity in Poland, a passerby discovered an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in a forest in Strzelce County, Opole Voivodeship. This information was reported by the news agency 'European Truth,' citing reports from RMF24. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon when the individual, while walking through the woods, spotted the drone and promptly alerted law enforcement authorities.

The Strzelce County police responded swiftly to the report and confirmed the discovery of the drone. Several fire department units also arrived at the scene to assist in ensuring safety. Law enforcement officials cordoned off the area, implementing a restriction on access to outsiders to carry out necessary safety measures and investigations.

According to information, police officers from Strzelce County, along with representatives from the Voivodeship Police Headquarters in Opole, are currently working at the scene. Firefighters from Katowice, the State Fire Service from Strzelce Opolskie, and from Kędzierzyn-Koźle are also involved in the operations. The police stated that all actions are being conducted in accordance with existing procedures, and measures are ongoing to establish the origin and owner of the found drone.

This incident has sparked concern in light of recent events related to the use of drones. It is worth noting that on the night of September 10, Russian drones, numbering around twenty, first entered Polish airspace en masse. Since then, debris from Russian UAVs has continued to be found in various parts of the country, raising alarms among local residents and authorities.

In the first half of March this year, there were also reports of an unidentified drone being discovered on the territory of a mine in the Greater Poland Voivodeship. Following an investigation, law enforcement officials stated that the found drone was likely one of the last UAVs that entered Polish airspace in September of the previous year and had been sought by authorities. These events underscore the increasing risks associated with unmanned aerial vehicles and the need for enhanced monitoring of their use.

The Polish authorities continue to closely monitor the situation regarding drones and urge citizens to remain vigilant. If anyone witnesses similar incidents or discovers suspicious objects, the police encourage immediate reporting. The safety of citizens remains a priority for law enforcement agencies, and they are prepared to take all necessary measures to ensure peace within the country.
