Six Buildings Destroyed in Odesa's Kyiv District Amid Russian Airstrike
In a devastating airstrike on the Kyiv district of Odesa on the night of October 23, six buildings were destroyed, including one high-rise, and 66 others were damaged, according to local authorities.
In the early hours of Monday, October 23, the Kyiv district of Odesa became the target of a Russian aerial attack that resulted in significant destruction. According to information provided by Serhiy Lysak, the head of the Odesa City Military Administration, the attack damaged 66 residential buildings, of which 14 are high-rise and 52 are private homes. Visually, the destruction of six buildings was recorded, including one high-rise structure.
Lysak reported that as a result of the attack, 1,059 windows were shattered, along with 11 doors and 8 roofs being damaged. Municipal services responded swiftly to the situation, managing to close 617 broken windows. However, 81 window closures were declined by the owners, indicating that not all residents of the affected buildings are willing to accept assistance. A total of 66 cubic meters of construction debris has already been removed from the area, marking an important step towards restoring normalcy in the district.
According to Lysak's report, an operational headquarters was established shortly after the attack, along with two mobile Points of Invincibility, which allowed for quick organization of assistance for those affected. Throughout the day, 149 residents of the damaged buildings reached out to the headquarters seeking support and information regarding subsequent actions.
Representatives from the Kyiv district administration, in collaboration with municipal services, compiled 54 reports on the damaged housing, which included data on 36 apartments and 18 private homes. This reflects a systematic approach to addressing the aftermath of the attack, as each report documents the extent of the damage and the need for restoration work.
It is important to note that the situation in Odesa remains tense, as the region continues to face attacks from Russian forces. Local authorities are urging residents to adhere to safety measures and remain prepared for potential emergencies.
