Kyiv Region Allocates Over 209 Million UAH for Veteran Support in 2026

In a significant move to support veterans, the Kyiv region has earmarked over 209 million UAH from its regional budget for the year 2026. This funding is part of ongoing efforts by the government to assist those who have defended the nation.

In 2026, the Kyiv region's budget has allocated more than 209 million UAH specifically for the support of veterans. This amount represents a portion of the government's commitment to assist those who have bravely defended the country. In 2025, local levels implemented over 600 million UAH in programs and direct assistance for veterans, as reported by Mykola Kalashnyk, the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.

Speaking at a 'Dialogue with Communities' meeting held in Bucha, Kalashnyk emphasized the importance of a systematic approach to veteran support. 'We are working clearly according to the task set by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy – to form a systematic, effective, and fair policy for veteran support… In 2025, we (Kyiv region) ensured the implementation of veteran support programs at all levels – regional and within communities,' he stated.

According to him, over 600 million UAH was financed for local programs, along with targeted support for thousands of families. This demonstrates that the government is attentive to the needs of veterans and their families, striving to provide them with decent living conditions.

One of the key topics of discussion was the provision of housing for veterans. Kalashnyk reported that under state programs, all 263 veterans with disabilities and the families of fallen soldiers designated for the year received housing. This is a significant step towards improving the living conditions of veterans and their loved ones.

'In 2026, over 209 million UAH is specifically allocated from the regional budget for veteran support. This includes direct payments, medical assistance, rehabilitation, education for children, and family support,' noted the head of the OVA. These measures aim not only to provide financial support but also to enhance the quality of life for veterans and their families, which is extremely important in the current circumstances.

Thus, the Kyiv region continues to implement veteran support programs, reflecting the government's commitment to care for those who have given their strength and health for the defense of the country. The authorities in Kyiv region are actively working to create conditions for a dignified life for veterans, which is a crucial element of the state's social policy.
