Memorial 'Omega of the Unbreakable' Unveiled in Kyiv Honoring National Guard Special Forces
A solemn ceremony was held in Kyiv to inaugurate the 'Omega of the Unbreakable' memorial, dedicated to the National Guard special forces who sacrificed their lives for a free and independent Ukraine.
In Kyiv, on the Alley of the Ukrainian Military, a significant event took place with the official opening of the 'Omega of the Unbreakable' memorial. This memorial stands as a symbol of remembrance and honor for those who have given their lives in the struggle for a free and independent Ukraine. According to reports from Ukrinform, the National Guard of Ukraine announced this important event on its official Facebook page.
The ceremony attracted numerous guests, including high-ranking officials and military personnel. Among those present were Major General Oleksandr Pyvnenko, Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, Major General Pavlo Yatsyuk, Head of the Special Operations Center 'Omega', and Brigadier General Valentyn Ostrizhnyi, Deputy Commander of the National Guard for Personnel Affairs. All emphasized the significance of this event in honoring the memory of the heroes who sacrificed their lives for Ukraine.
In his speech, Commander of the National Guard Oleksandr Pyvnenko noted that the soldiers of 'Omega' have become a personification of strength, professionalism, and an indomitable spirit. He highlighted that 'Omega' is always present where the situation is most challenging, where the outcome of battles is determined, requiring a cool head, resilience, and uncompromising dedication to Ukraine. According to him, these heroes prove their effectiveness on the front lines every day, undertaking the most complex combat missions and bringing Ukraine closer to victory.
During the ceremony, Major General Pyvnenko presented awards to special forces personnel and also conveyed state honors to the families of fallen servicemen. He reminded attendees that over the years of conflict, 24 guardsmen from 'Omega' have been awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine, with 16 receiving this honor posthumously. Additionally, more than 1,200 servicemen have received state awards for their courage and bravery.
The National Guard of Ukraine also emphasized that the soldiers of 'Omega' demonstrate high effectiveness, endurance, and professionalism during combat missions. In the context of modern warfare, special forces continuously evolve, implementing new technologies and approaches to combat operations, remaining a model for other units.
