Strong Winds Expected in Kyiv on Monday, Gusts Up to 20 Meters Per Second

Kyiv is bracing for strong winds on Monday, with gusts expected to reach between 15 to 20 meters per second, according to a report from the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) via Ukrinform.

On April 6, residents of Kyiv should prepare for significant wind gusts, which are forecasted to reach speeds of 15 to 20 meters per second during the day. The KCSA has issued a warning and provided safety recommendations for the public to follow during this weather event.

In a statement shared on Telegram, officials advised residents to securely close windows to prevent damage from the wind. They also urged individuals to remove any items from balconies and loggias that could be blown away. Additionally, it is recommended to maintain a safe distance from advertising billboards, power lines, and large trees, and to avoid parking vehicles near these structures to minimize risk.

In the event that a tree falls or branches break due to the high winds, residents are instructed to contact the emergency dispatch service of Kyivzelenbud at 0442724018. If the falling trees or branches pose a threat to life, it is crucial to reach out to emergency services by calling 101 or 0444303713 (KARS hotline). According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, the weather in Kyiv and the surrounding Kyiv region on April 6 will be predominantly cloudy with some clear spells. There will be no precipitation during the night, but rain is expected during the day. Winds will initially come from the southwest, shifting to the northwest, with speeds of 7 to 12 meters per second, and gusts reaching 15 to 20 meters per second in the afternoon.

The temperature across the region will range from 3 to 8 degrees Celsius at night and will rise to between 11 to 16 degrees Celsius during the day. In Kyiv specifically, nighttime temperatures will be between 5 to 7 degrees Celsius, with daytime highs reaching 13 to 15 degrees Celsius.
