Ukrainian Road Running Championship Kicks Off in Kyiv

The Ukrainian Road Running Championship has officially commenced in the capital city of Kyiv, as part of the Kyiv Half Marathon of Resilience. This significant event is organized by Run Ukraine, one of the largest running event organizers in the country.

In the heart of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, the Ukrainian Road Running Championship has kicked off, coinciding with the Kyiv Half Marathon of Resilience. This prestigious event is organized by Run Ukraine, a leading organizer of running events in Ukraine, as reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Athletics Federation (FLAU).

The championship serves as a crucial qualifying event for athletes aiming to secure a spot at the World Athletics Road Running Championships, scheduled for September 19-20 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The competition features top athletes representing the Ukrainian national team, highlighting the high status of this event.

In the women's mile race, Angelika Bondar emerged victorious, completing the distance in an impressive time of 4 minutes and 58 seconds. This achievement underscores her exceptional level of training and skill. In the men's category, Dmitry Nikolaychuk triumphed with a remarkable finish time of 4 minutes and 21 seconds, further showcasing the high caliber of competitors at this championship.

Results in the 5000-meter distance were as anticipated, with leading competitors Victoria Shkurko and Andriy Atamanyuk confirming their dominance. Victoria Shkurko finished with a time of 15 minutes and 55 seconds, while Andriy Atamanyuk crossed the finish line in 14 minutes and 1 second, demonstrating their readiness for upcoming international competitions.

On Sunday, September 17, the half marathon races will take place, where athletes will also compete for awards and spots at the World Championships. These races are expected to be equally intense and captivating, as leading athletes strive to showcase their best performances.
