On the night of March 30, 2023, powerful explosions were reported in occupied Crimea, resulting in widespread power outages across several regions of the peninsula. This information was shared by the Telegram channel 'Krymskyi Viter,' citing reports from the occupying company 'Krymenergo,' as conveyed by the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform.
According to the report, technological disruptions in the main power grids led to the disconnection of consumers in the city of Yevpatoria, as well as partial outages in the Saksky, Rozdolnensky, Pervomaysky, Chornomorsky, and Krasnoperekopsky districts of the Republic of Crimea. These incidents were reportedly caused by drone attacks that also targeted the Kirovskoye airfield and the Balaklava thermal power plant.
An official statement from the Russian holding company 'Rosseti' confirmed that power supply to the peninsula and the occupied territories of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia had been interrupted due to drone attacks. This information was also disseminated via the Telegram channel 'Krymskyi Viter.' It is known that such incidents are becoming increasingly frequent in the occupied territories, raising concerns among the local population.
Earlier on March 30, Ukrinform had already reported that parts of temporarily occupied Crimea were left without electricity. At that time, Yalta, Feodosia, and the Chornomorsky district were among those affected. These events indicate serious issues within the energy infrastructure of the occupied peninsula, likely linked to military actions and attacks on critical infrastructure.
The situation in Crimea remains tense, and local residents are worried about the potential consequences of further attacks. In the absence of stable electricity supply, which has become a norm for many, people are forced to seek alternative energy sources, complicating their daily lives.
It is worth noting that such incidents highlight how the war in Ukraine continues to impact the lives of people not only on the front lines but also in the rear. Power outages, rising energy prices, and instability in the energy sector pose serious challenges for the population, which is trying to adapt to the new conditions.
