A shocking incident occurred in Chernivtsi when a woman posing as a 'clairvoyant' managed to defraud a victim of a significant sum of money. The Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office reported this on their Facebook page, providing details about the investigation led by prosecutors from the Chernivtsi District Prosecutor's Office.
According to the investigation, the suspect created an Instagram account where she presented herself as a 'clairvoyant,' offering various energy services, including fortune-telling, tarot readings, and 'relationship restoration.' She convinced her clients that she had the ability to bring back their loved ones through special rituals and cards.
A young woman, who was looking for ways to restore her relationship with her former partner, responded to this offer. The suspect assured her of a 'guaranteed result,' but each time demanded additional funds, supposedly for conducting new rituals and ceremonies. Over the course of several months, the victim, being misled, transferred nearly 300,000 hryvnias to the fraudster's accounts.
The promised result never materialized, and the 'clairvoyant' eventually stopped communicating, leaving her victim without hope of restoring her relationship. Law enforcement, after examining the circumstances of the case, informed the suspect of her suspicion of fraud committed under martial law, which caused significant harm to the victim. According to Ukrainian legislation, this criminal offense is punishable under part 3 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
This situation highlights the importance of caution when communicating with unfamiliar individuals, especially in today's world where fraud has taken on new forms and methods. It is essential to remember that there are no magical solutions to personal problems and that genuine emotional connections require time, effort, and sincerity.
Additionally, recently, 'Nova Poshta' also warned about a fraudulent scheme involving 'parcel sales,' indicating a rise in fraudulent activities within Ukraine. Therefore, law enforcement calls on citizens to be vigilant and cautious in their financial dealings and not to fall for promises of easy earnings or quick solutions to personal issues.
